Why you'll love this classic pendant lamp
The Bubble Saucer Pendant Light is one of a series of pendant lights created using a metal frame covered with a white webbed polymer. Designed by American industrial designer George Nelson in 1947, and first produced by Herman Miller in 1952, the Bubble Lamp was a revolution in modern lighting with its innovative production method. It were inspired by silk covered Swedish pendant lights Nelson wanted for his office but found to be too expensive. Using the resourcefulness which characterised his working process, Nelson used a self webbing plastic spray developed by the U.S military and applied this over a lightweight, rounded steel frame to produce these soft glowing light fittings. This Saucer shaped version comes in four sizes to suit any room. A design classic with a fantastic pedigree.
