Designed by Konstantin Grcic in 1998, the Mayday light from Flos Lighting is a much-loved & highly versatile modern lamp that's stood the test of time.

Featuring a minimal and instantly recognisable silhouette, the Flos Mayday light embodies an industrial aesthetic and a contemporary feel. The brainchild of German industrial designer Konstantin Grcic, Mayday is an award-winning idea with a thousand uses. The lamp is easily adapted and moved according to your needs, making it a highly practical design.

Functional Modern Lighting

Inspired by industrial style safety lamps, the Flos Mayday light aims to "be useful whenever you need light”. The sleek, minimal silhouette is defined by the curved hook/handle and cone-shaped shade. Mayday can be placed on a table or the ground, hung from the hook or suspended using the cable. With such versatility, the design can be used almost anywhere. Hang it over your desk, place it next to a sofa or hook it onto an outdoor wall. If your needs change over time (or even throughout the day) the lamp is easily moved thanks to its extra-long cable and lightweight form.

The multipurpose design comes in both indoor and outdoor versions. The original indoor Mayday light is available in a selection of bold, contemporary colours whilst the outdoor version comes in three softer, nature-inspired tones.

Flos Mayday Outdoor

An update of the iconic 1998 design, the Mayday Outdoor Lamp gives you the freedom to take your lighting anywhere. This all-weather version of the classic design has been engineered to obtain an IP65 protection. Featuring the same versatile functionality as the original design, the Mayday Outdoor can be placed almost anywhere. Place yours on the floor or use the 6m cable to hang it over a hook, wall or branch.

Mayday is crafted using recycled opaline which is injection-moulded to create the unique conical diffuser. As no glue is used in the assembly process, the light is easy to dismantle. This means at the end of its lifespan every part of the lamp can be properly recycled.
